Use Digital Signage To Influence Your Customers

By Tanisha Berg

Advances in technology are used to create different types of signs these days. These systems of digital signage are used to promote and inform a number of things. They are used to inform patrons of products in banks, promotional sales in department stores, class schedules on school campuses, flight schedules at airports, etc. Using one's creativity, digital signs can be used for so many different motives.

These digital sign systems have many different identifications. They include narrowcasting, captive audience networks, out-of-home television, electronic billboards, or retail TV. However, even with all these names, the main goal of the signs remains the same; they seek to provide information to patrons through videos, graphics, and audio. The graphics and videos are usually very high quality, and are placed in specific areas for a target demographic. For example, they can be placed within financial institutions like banks to occupy the attention of customers and to promote certain products and services. This raises revenues for these premises and provide a lot of visibility for the services.

A lot of retailers have invested a lot of their budget to marketing with these digital systems, allowing more customers to experience more interactive and enjoyable stays on the premises. Installing these systems allows for speedy communication, impactful advertising, rise in revenue, and marketing towards certain purchases. Many other industries have also started using these signs such as the government, healthcare industries, sports venues, entertainment facilities, and public transportation.

There are many components that determine the overall structure of a digital sign. They could be installed with one or more displays, numerous media players, and content management servers. These different components could even be installed all in one device. Usually, a system will include a display and a server, all connected to a network and a media player.

Content management servers can support many media players. Similarly, a media player could support large amounts of display screens. If you don't have a network connection, you can also install a stand-alone sign with all three components. The operating systems you use for these systems can also vary, depending on preference.

Mobile phones can be used to interact with the sign systems. SMS messaging and Bluetooth technology are both great ways for people to send messages to the displays, or even directly use options on the monitors. This pulls attentions to the signs even more. People could even use social and location-based networking in systems that are connected to a network.

The convenience of digital signs make these systems much more desirable than paper signs. They can be controlled with remote controls, while paper must be manually changed. Because paper must always be replaced with more paper while digital signs don't require this waste, the digital systems are more environmentally friendly.

Before you install your sign system, organize all your information. Make sure you know what content and text you want to be displayed, and what demographic you'd like the target. Make sure your files are saved in the same formats as well. It is smart to also think of future content so that you don't have to think of them later.
